The Papua New Guinea Tourism Investment Directory Portfolio will be officially launched in October 2021, to coincide with the opening of the World Expo in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

The publication will feature a directory listing of all the tourism businesses in Papua New Guinea and highlight projects that showcase the investment opportunities that are available in the country. 

World Exposition in Dubai 

October 2021 to March 2022 

For 170 years, World Expos have provided a platform to showcase the greatest innovations that have influenced the way we live today. Expo 2020 Dubai is a continuation of that tradition with hosting the first Expo that will be held in Dubai and is one of the most important in exposition history with organizations from around the world and 191 participating nations. The aim of this event is to create a fleeting miniature world, a microcosm of global progress and dialogue. World Expos are also a platform to provide a unique and international stage to engage in cultural diplomacy and interact with the host country, other participants, potential tourists, trade partners and investors. The overall theme for the EXPO2020 Dubai is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, There are three subthemes that are categorized under the overall theme. These are: Mobility, Sustainability, and Opportunity.

Papua New Guinea will have the honor to participate at the World Expo2020 in Dubai from October 2021 to March 2022. As a potential investment economy, PNG as a whole of government approach will participate under the Subtheme of Sustainability to utilize this global opportunity to show case its products and services as well as market and promote the nation as a potential investment economy including: Agriculture, Tourism, Fisheries, Forestry, Mining, Energy & Petroleum, Education among other opportunities.

The Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA) as part of its mandated role and participation to this event will be representing the tourism sector to market and promote PNG as a desirable tourist destination as well as advocating globally for potential tourism investment opportunities in accordance with the National Theme. 

The National Theme ‘Sustainability’ is focused on presenting Papua New Guinea’s achievements and commitments towards creating an economic environment that is sustainable, inclusive and innovative.

As the national tourism sector thrives to revive and become resilient in this rapidly evolving industry, tourism businesses will need the necessary support through partnership to enhance in order to develop, maintain and protect PNG’s image as a desirable tourist destination amidst the global pandemic and beyond.

1. TOURISM BUSINESS LISTING 

The PNG Tourism Promotion Authority invites all tourism businesses operating in Papua New Guinea to formally indicate their Expression of Interest to be marketed and promoted at the event.

The PNGTPA in order to maintain and protect PNG’s image as a tourist destination, anticipates presenting the best tourism opportunities for global marketing, promotion and investment purposes hence encourages all tourism businesses to ensure that all required information that will be provided are accurate and factual.

REQUIREMENTS: 

The main requirements for tourism businesses to be considered eligible include;

• Must be a PNG Registered tourism-related business.
• Must have more than five years of operation in the tourism sector within PNG
• Must have high quality marketing collateral (images, videos, brochures, business cards etc.)  
• Must have reliable contact information (telephone, email, website, social media etc.)
• Must demonstrate compliance to government regulations and standards such as Business Registration, TIN Registration and Certificate of Compliance and other certifications, licenses or permits (is an advantage)

2. PROJECT PROPOSAL FEATURE 

The PNG Tourism Promotion Authority invites interested tourism businesses to submit a project proposal relevant to the national theme to be marketed and promoted at the event as a ‘potential tourism investment opportunity‘ for partnership.

PNGTPA anticipates presenting the best tourism opportunities for global marketing, promotion and investment purposes hence encourages all tourism businesses to ensure that all project proposals that will be provided are accurate and factual. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

The main requirements for project proposal submissions are;

• Must be a tourism related project located in Papua New Guinea.
• Must be relevant to the National Theme ‘Sustainability’
• Must demonstrate the reliability of financial resilience and growth potential
• Must be innovative through the embracing of global trends in technology and tourism behavior amidst the global pandemic
• Must demonstrate inclusivity through the embracing of equal participation of community groups, youth, women and people living with special needs. 
• Must have reliable contact information (telephone, email, website, social media etc.)
• Must demonstrate compliance to government regulations and standards such as Business Registration, TIN Registration and Certificate of Compliance and other certifications, licenses or permits (is an advantage)
