PORT MORESBY City’s popular Hiri Moale Festival will be bigger and better in 2019 with major side shows and side events leading up to the main event in September. The Hiri Moale Festival 2019 was launched at the symbolic APEC Haus whose structure is designed like the Lakatoi – huge traditional double hull canoes - used by the Motu-Koitabu during the Hiri Trade with their Gulf neighbours to the West in years gone by.

Varirata National Park Opens Information Centre

The Varirata National Park recently opened their new Information Centre at Sogeri outside of Port Moresby. The modern information centre will enhance visitors experience to the nature park. The park is already popular with schools excursions, bird watching, weekend outings for city residents and nature tours. PNGTPA is a partner in the development of the Variarata National Park through setting up of signboards and working with JICA to develop bird watching attractions in the nature park.

Globetrotting Instagrammer Makes PNG his 156th Country to Visit
On his way to breaking a world record, instagrammer Daniel Herszberg is soon to be the second youngest person to have visited all the 195 countries of the world.
Daniel Herszberg, an Australian living in Hong Kong, has travelled the world and visited over a hundred different countries; Papua New Guinea being his 156th country. At 26 years of age, he aims to be the youngest traveler to visit all the countries of the world by 2020.
